To be eligible to apply for a second or third Working Holiday (subclass 417) or Work & Holiday (subclass 462) visa, you must have already completed a prescribed minimum period of ‘specified work’. 

This information applies equally to both 417 and 462 visas so the collective term ‘Working Holiday Maker’ (WHM) visas will be used.

Specified work’ in horticulture means that you will be involved in harvesting and/or packing of fruit and vegetable crops, pruning and trimming vines and trees, general maintenance work or cultivating and propagating plants.

To be eligible for a second WHM visa, you must have carried out at least three months of specified work – that is, a minimum period of 88 calendar days.

To be eligible for a third WHM visa, you must have carried out at least six months of specified work – that is, a minimum period of 179 calendar days.

You should also ensure that the work you plan to do not only meets the definition of specified work but that the work will take place in an eligible postcode of regional Australia.

Specified work carried out in the following areas of regional Australia is eligible specified work for the purpose of a second or third WHM visa.

There are no restrictions to location in the following states and territories:

Northern Territory

South Australia

Tasmania

Norfolk Island
