BEST Employment provides Harvest Trail Services throughout Southern Queensland and inland Northern NSW. We have two offices located in Stanthorpe and Gatton, however we cover many other towns and areas over this region including Dalveen, Applethorpe, the Summit, Thulimbah, Wyberba, Cottonvale, Severnlea, Glen Aplin, Ballandean, Wallangarra, Texas, Inglewood, Goondiwindi, St George, Toowoomba, Chinchilla, Ipswich, Lowood, Rosewood, Wyreema, Dirranbandi, Highfields, Hampton, Clifton, Allora, Warwick, Killarney, Boonah, Harrisville, Fernvale, Laidley, Esk, Tenterfield, Moree, Boggabilla and Mungindi.

This vast area provides many different harvest crops from strawberry season in Stanthorpe, vegetables picking and packing in the Lockyer Valley, onion and potato season in the Southern Downs to grain crops in the Goondiwindi and Moree areas. 

Stanthorpe is in South East Queensland, 220km south-west of Brisbane on the Queensland/NSW border. It has a population of 11,000 people and is part of an area called the Granite Belt- named for a unique landscape of large granite rocks. At an altitude of 950m, Stanthorpe has the reputation of being the coldest place in Queensland.  Christmas in July is a big feature in Stanthorpe, with many tourists flocking to take in the sub-zero nights and crisp winter days.

There are many places to visit in close proximity to Stanthorpe including four outstanding National Parks and numerous wineries.  The nearest cinema is in Warwick (60 km north). Stanthorpe has numerous restaurants and hotels some of which provide music at weekends. There is an art gallery, library, internet café, swimming pool, gymnasium, squash courts and facilities for many other sports.

Crops grown in the Granite Belt include apples, grapes, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, strawberry runners, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, limes, tomatoes, capsicums, baby leaf salad vegetables, celery, onions, broccoli, broccolini, beans, flowers, truffle trees and truffles, chillies and various other vegetables.

Gatton is situated in the heart of the rich and fertile Lockyer Valley. Located approximately 90km west of Brisbane and 40km east of Toowoomba, it has a population of 7,000 people. The region was one of the first areas of settlement in Queensland and has traditionally been a producer of cattle and a wide range of vegetables crops, tomatoes and melons.

There is plenty to do including great wining, dining and retail therapy. Try skydiving or horse riding. There are plenty of attractions to visit in the area including Gatton Pioneer Village, Davson Art Gallery, Historic Pubs/Hotels dotted along the Cobb & Co Tourist Drive, Gatton University, Gatton Equestrian Centre and Glen Rock Regional Park – just to name a few. 

The Gatton HTS Office hold weekly harvest information sessions on a Tuesday at 10 am, to discuss the current vacancies in the area, provide information about harvest work and keep job seekers updated with current incentives and accommodation options. Harvest Team Leader Liz Ford has been with BEST Employment in Gatton for the past 7 years and enjoys the challenge of sourcing workers from all over Australia to come to the Southern Qld and Northern NSW areas to work, travel and enjoy what this beautiful area has to offer.
